An EPK is an online, digital and/or electronic version of the physical, paper information folder that was sent out in the old days by managers (now often by artists and bands themselves) to:

PURPOSE OF AN EPK
Obtain booking your artist/band, with reviews of your new track, EP, and album. Providing content such as interviews or featured articles about your artist/band or play music on the internet radio station.
Most solo artist and bands should have one. And, chances are, you are the one pulling it together.

The email will contain details introducing why the individual is receiving the email, following an EPK to top A&Rs, DJs, Managers, Booking Agents, Blogs, Venues, and major labels such as Atlantic, RCA, Epic, Interscope, Universal and Capitol Records. This blast will cover a short portion of your public relations and marketing tools.
